Alright! All you Winnipeg Jets fans who are pumped for the season to begin will have probably seen this by now. But for those of you who haven't....here it is.
Chris Mason unveiled his new goalie mask last week and I think it is lookin' pretty sweet.
Any mask with Iron Maiden's mascot Eddie on it gets a thumbs up from me.
Painted by Steve Nash (no...not that one) of Eyecandyair, this lid has got some silver reflective pieces on each side among the ever present jet motif.
The chin has got a mix of Jets logo and a maple leaf. Really simple, solid and symmetrical.
Super!
The top of the mask feels almost like razor sharp teeth.
The color scheme is pretty solid as well. Maybe a little lighter blue base than I would have expected.
The backplate is really nice. Look closely, can you see something hidden in there? A little personal touch lays in the red color. See if you can find it.
Overall, a really solid mask. One that will probably get a lot of coverage with the Jets returning to the NHL this season.
In fact, I've already found a news story about Chris describing his mask.
I give this goalie mask a 4 out of 5.

Love the design, I'm just not a huge fan of all the lighter blue on there, so overall I would give it a 3 out of 5.
ReplyDeleteyou should do your next rate my mask on Jose Theodore's new mask

Fantastic idea, but still...3/5
ReplyDeleteThis is probably a stupid question, but what's the 5-0 for on the front?
ReplyDeleteBUSTED!!
ReplyDeleteI purposefully omitted that info......since I haven't the faintest idea.
Now you're gonna make me google it.
:)
I guess its his number! Simple explanation, but an odd number for a goalie.
